Design Concept|
I picked coelacanths as my object. While analyzing the object, I found that the scales of this living Fossil fish is very interesting. They’re called “cycloid scale”. There are several growth rings of uneven density and layers of hues caused by different levels of pigmentation.
I designed a way to joint models by tenons and mortise, depending on the wavelike figure under the cycloid scales. Then, I arranged several arches, which the left side concave and the right side convex, in the shape of a bowl. After that, I partitioned into two parts by any two of the vertices. Finally, I made several cement patterns, which can be joint by the arches or by the tenons and mortise, with the model, and piled them up in different ways.
