GENGERAL Description |

Gaston Bachelard describes corner as “I am where I am. ”in 《The Poetic Space》.

The corner I want to discuss is not just the situation that 2 walls stand on the ground and compose in the 90 degree. The corner I focuses on provided with secure, stastic, privacy. It’s a blank, deliver a field for people’s daydream. Everyone has their own corner shows how we look at the world. We stay in corner ,desiring to connect with the universe. It’s the contradiction for people in the city. We pursue our identity ,but at the same time ,we can’t separate from the grounp . So when we search for the corner, that means we need a place to let us pull away or change the current situation.Take examples, the man lays on the wall. The woman looks out the window in coffee shop. The boys stay in the shadow in the smmer day. The commons for these people are they all look for the place can keep “myself”.

「Everyone has a city in their mind, it built with difference. A city without outlook and scheme. Each pieces of cities in the world made our mind.」－《Invisible City》。

Abode of Fancy is the city exists in people's mind.

DESIGN Description |

In the design, I use a concept "WABI-SABI" to discuss the situation. A unperfect, unpredictable mode. Japanese tea ceremony is a representative of WABI-SABI. The importance of tea ceremony isn't the quality of final Tea Room, it's the whole process from the first step you get into the garden to the end of the tea room.

Old people said tea room is “ Abode of Fancy “ . Following the improvise thought to build it. It doesen't exist in any place, also in everywhere. People who stay in tea room focus on the current feelings, and the "Currrent" is the ideal look of our life. Somebody say tea room like a playground because when we in there, our mind can be released freedomly. In the design, I foucus on the process. I translate the four main spirits －"和（Harmony）、敬（Respect）、清（Clean）、寂（Silence）", emphasizing each seperately. Let people can choose the sapce that fits to their instant mood to stay.

「隅」is corner, the place people leave part of them.「白」is daydream, the condition people space out. 「隅白」 means a private sense of vast, a hetropia contains the contradiction in the city.
